Writed by Howard Burd Average Rating 3,6 of 10 Genre Horror Apparition is a movie starring Mena Suvari, Kevin Pollak, and Jon Abrahams. A group of young people, guided by an app which connects living with the dead, find themselves at an abandoned castle. A place with a horrific history tied rating 286 Vote. Suspenseful, fun, not too scary; just enough scare! Entertaining and different than all the typical, non-original "horror/thriller" films. I also enjoyed knowing that the Preston Castle scenes were actually shot in the castle, made it more thrilling for me.

Hi everyone... I do live in this city... and I've seen all that and much much more by my own eyes. Really it was a great blessing. but for everyone who doubts that, let me tell U that every night millions of people were on all the roofs along several kilometers around the church, and on the church's roof itself, so if there were anyone who have seen any light, laser or hologram equipment, why didn't they tape that or document it anyway. Didn't you think that the government investigated this holy appearances enough that it couldn't deny it's miraculous. Tell me then, was there holograms and such technologies in 1960s? what about the appearances in virgin Mary's church - zeitoun - Cairo in 1968? Do U know that the government was ordered to cut off electricity from the whole area to investigate what's going on, and Virgin Mary appeared with heavenly lights however and the president himself attended that. what if I told you that me and thousands of people attended those holy appearances several times in different places and occasions. ok, tell me now, who may want to manipulate all those millions in different places around the world in along all those years, and why in your opinion? at last... the only thing I would tell you is whenever and wherever U hear the news about such appearances, just go and watch by yourself... and find out the truth by yourself. thank you.

In 1890, the 230 acre parcel of land where the Preston Castle stands was purchased from the Ione Coal & Iron Company for $30 per acre with 100 acres donated. The land was purchased to house the Preston School of Industry, established by the State Legislature as a progressive action toward rehabilitating, rather than simply imprisoning, juvenile offenders. Construction of the Administration Building for the Preston School of Industry started right away. The bricks for the building were made at San Quentin and Folsom prisons using sandstone that was quarried six miles from Ione. The bricks were then delivered by rail at 6, 000 bricks per car. The cornerstone was laid on December 23, 1890 with 2, 500 people in attendance. The plans for the school were ambitious with the original plans showing 77 rooms on five floors. The administration building, which eventually came to be called the Preston Castle, would be the most significant example of Romanesque Revival architecture in the Mother Lode. The first floor would house a reception and Director’s room, general office with a walk in vault, reception room, sitting room, a butler's pantry, a dining room, employee lavatory, physician office, pharmacy, clerk’s office plus three additional offices. The first floor annex would include a dining room. The second floor would include a reading room, library, twelve apartments, a school room, coat and hat room, men's water closet and women's lavatory. The second floor annex would hold a dormitory, a locker room, and a linen room. A mezzanine level was to provide two bathrooms with three bathtubs. The third and fourth floors would remain unfinished. The third floor would contain twelve rooms and the fourth floor was designed to have six rooms. The basement would include a play room, water closet (long urinal and nine toilets), laundry, lavatory with foot bath, shower room and plunge bath, hall, kitchen, pantry, furnace room, fuel storage room, and a water closet with two toilets. The basement annex would hold a bakery, fuel storage room, kitchen, pantry, storeroom, and the employee's laundry and lavatory. At its peak the Preston School of Industry encompassed 1, 000 acres, 750 of which were farmland. It housed 800 wards, employed a staff of 200, and utilized approximately 50 buildings. On June 13, 1894, the first wards were accepted at the Preston School of Industry, and the school was proclaimed officially opened on July 1, 1894. The next year, electricity was installed by way of a water wheel powered dynamo, called a Pelton Wheel, for incandescent and arc lights. The Preston School of Industry remained open until 1960 when new facilities for the school were completed. The building remained vacant and fading into disrepair until September 10, 2001 when The Preston Castle Foundation received a fifty-year lease for the property. The Preston Castle has also been named a California State Historical Landmark (#867) and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places (NPS-75000422). The Preston Castle Foundation received ownership of the Preston Castle and surrounding 12. 91 acres on November 7, 2014.

Preston School of Industry (also known as Preston Castle) is a former boy's correctional facility in Ione, California, which opened in the late 1800s. This place housed juveniles who were too bad for society, committing crimes ranging from burglary up to murder. In 1890, construction began on the Preston School of Industry, a place where troubled boys could serve their time and learn a trade. The boys ranged in age from 12-24 years. On February 23 1950, the head-housekeeper, Anna Corbin, was beaten to death in the basement while she was attending to her duties. She was 52 years old. This is an unsolved murder case. In 1965, the agricultural teacher was murdered by 2 wards on the farm on the property. While welding a trailer, they buried a lead pipe in the back of his head.

Damn if this was a movie series, I'd be down. If you like scary movies you should check out Apparition. I've been watching horror flicks since the 80's and this one to me fits in somewhere between the "Scream" style movies and a B flick.
In summary it's about a group of kids who use an app that connects them with the other side, revealing their past. Things however take a major turn and it gets dark real fast.
At times I felt a bit uncomfortable due to the horrible situations you'll will witness at this once boys reform school, but it adds to the overall mood and works well.
Walk into this one with an open mind a bag of popcorn and you won't be disappointed.

Look, i never saw the 2016 one, and i don't plan to, not because it full of women, but because the humor in it and the story doesn't meet my tastes. But I will say this, wasn't the 2016 a reboot? And this new one is a true sequel correct? So even if they state there hasn't been a ghost sighting in 30 years doesn't affect the 2016 movie at all because they are separate form one another.
